Pride Month

Throughout Saskatchewan, June is known as Gender and Sexual Diversity Pride Month! It is a time when the world’s LGBTQ2S+ communities and allies come together to celebrate acceptance, human rights and diversity.

At Ecole Harbour Landing School, it is important that we demonstrate our Shared Values that include belonging and respect. We are committed to a diverse educational community rooted in equity and inclusion as fundamental human rights. We seek ways to create an environment in which the identities and cultural backgrounds of our families, students and staff are valued and respected by the entire EHLS community.

We believe that the diversity of our students, staff, families and curricula is essential for our community. At EHLS, diverse cultural identities, world views, aspirations, affiliations and beliefs strengthen the learning experience for all as we promote open dialogue around difference and acceptance. Our students and staff are expected to uphold the highest standards of fairness and inclusivity so that all members of our community may participate in and contribute to the life of the school, regardless of age, family structure, race/ethnicity, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation or any other aspect of their identity.

As a school division, we are committed to ensuring that schools and workplaces are inclusive and protected environments where LGBTQ2S+ staff, students, families and llies feel included, protected and respected. Mrs. Koskie has designed a bookshelf of materials that may assist students or families address inclusivity and inclusion of LGBTQ2S+ students and families. These are located here and here!

As a result of COVID-19, the EHLS GSA will not be able to paint our crosswalk as a sign of our support for PRIDE. Additionally, the Queen City Pride Festival has been postponed until August 30 to September 5, 2020 with the parade currently scheduled for Saturday, September 5th.
